Daniel and Mallory quote Matthew 7

February 27th, 2008 by admin

While I was writing the previous post, I got the following e-mail from my dear friend Nicole:

Yesterday we recorded Daniel (6) and Mally (3) quoting Matthew 7 from memory. I might be a biased big sister, but I think they did a terrific job. I love the way Mally yawns halfway through; and the way Daniel carries her when she stumbles a little.
I have such adorable little siblings!
My mom has done such a great job teaching them scripture; they memorize so much in the Psalms and now with their tackling of the Sermon On The Mount…..wow!

Here it is:

Good job, Mallory and Daniel and Mrs. H!

Fluffy Mail

February 27th, 2008 by admin

Chautona, you may wish to stop reading now because I’m going to expound on the joys of one your absolutely favorite topics… I got my box from Tinkle Traps! I had e-mailed Tammy a few weeks ago asking if she had time to take on customs work and she said yes, but I’d have to wait a few weeks. No problem. More time to droll over the options! Here’s what came in the mail today…

2271.jpg
These are GMD toddlers that I had custom-dyed by Karen at Splash Coloria. I had Tammy convert them with a 17-1/2″ rise. They have hemp backed, organic velour topped quick-dry stitched inserts. No closures since I’ll use a snappi or pins.

2272.jpg
Here are the rest. The two on the top left are also GMD toddlers. The upper right group are GMD green edge infants. (Karen at GMD doesn’t sell those anymore, they have been replaced by the new yellow-edge infants.) The bottom group are a bunch of brown edge premiums.

I’m very pleased! The toddlers work very well for the little Munchkin right now. I like that they work well overnight or for errands and for church. The browns will provide a very trim fit for her to wear during the physical and occupational therapy and the itty bitty infants are for when the new model arrives. (No that is NOT an announcement. LOL.)

Technical Issues, pt. 2

February 27th, 2008 by admin

Well, it appears that no one can create accounts. Hmmmmmmm…. Let me see if I can sweet-talk it into cooperating, if not, then we’ll have to ask the man of the house to come and tell it what’s what. That’s the cool part about being a geek’s wife: he walks into the room and my computer starts behaving… well usually anyway.

Update: This seems resolved.

Technical Issues

Hmmm. It seems the theme I chose doesn’t have a log-in option which makes commenting interesting to say the least. I’ve changed the theme and there should be a log-in button in the column to the left of this post under “meta.” Does that work now? I guess I’ll know the answer if I get comments on this post, otherwise I’ll get lots of e-mail this aft.

Guess a Vegetable

February 25th, 2008 by admin

We get a “market basket” from the local farmer’s market each Wednesday. We usually recognize the fruits and veggies on sight, but occasionally they stump us. It’s hard to know what to google for if you don’t even know the name.

Today I got smart. I walked through the produce section at the grocery store.

Last week’s mystery was an acorn squash. This week is a butternut squash.

Now I get to figure out what to do with them. LOL.

Frying Wonton Skins is very dangerous

February 25th, 2008 by admin

Frying Wonton Skin strips for Chinese chicken salad is very dangerous. Dangerous to my hips that is. I ate a few while I was frying and now I’m eating all of the ones that are “too dark to be asthetically pleasing to the salad.” Nevermind that I burned the bacon this morning and the man of the house still ate it.

I *was* going to fry the whole package, but I decided it would be best, both for our food budget and my non-existent diet to stick the second half in the fridge for next time.

Walking, Danish and Juice

February 25th, 2008 by admin

I was feeding the hungry monkey when the man of the house woke up this morning. “Let’s go for a walk!” says he. “Okay!” says me and off we went.

Okay, so it wasn’t quite that simple. First I had to change the hungry monkey’s diaper and then I had to get dressed. Then we went down to the car and got the little monkey’s stroller and fleece suit. Finally we were ready to leave. The man of the house was happy because we got out the door before 6. Yes, as in AM. LOL.

It was a beautiful morning! We got a lot of rain late last week and this weekend so the air was so fresh and clean and refreshing. It was chilly, but not insanely freezing. Not that it ever freezes where I live…

We took our usual route (although we haven’t walked for several days due to the rain and the little Monkey being up a lot at nights) and we wished we had brought our camera. The man of the house had his iPhone and we got a few pictures with that. Maybe I should ask him really nicely to e-mail them to me.

As we were heading home, the Man of the House says that we should stop at the Coffee Shop on the way home. Why asks me, we are having bacon and eggs at home. “Oh” says he, “I want you to come walking again so I’ll engage in bribery.” Sweet thinks me, this week is getting off to a great start! I chose the Cream Cheese Crumble Danish. I would take a picture of that too, but it’s already being digested by stomach acid.

We continued on our walk, while stuffing our faces with our respective treats when the man of the house suggests that we should stop and get some of my favorite juice! Sweeeeeeeeet. I’m definitely in for walking tomorrow.

Oh, the joys of being spoiled rotten.

Welcome to the new Beccastoggs.com

February 24th, 2008 by admin

Hello to all of you, my faithful readers!

Beccastoggs has been my first ever, reasonably maintained blog, but as with all first attempts, it wasn’t perfect and after spending waaay too much time trying to fix what irritated me about my old blog set-up, I finally asked my dear Belteshazzar to help me demolish and re-build. Doing this allows me to re-set all of the catagories, tags, etc., etc. to my (enlighted by experience) liking.

Stay tuned for the new and improved Beccastoggs!

Thanks for reading,

Adrienne, the Ladybug!
